Nike Sportswear & Streetwear- Tech Fleece

In my previous blogs I have mentioned how Nike have products that fit into both sportswear and the streetwear market. The Nike Tech Fleece is another example of this. Tech Fleece was originally designed for athletes has now also transitioned into casual wear and streetwear. I can say this is due to the style and mainly the comfort of the Nike Tech Fleece. I have worn my tech fleece joggers when going on runs, to play football, loungewear and when going on long journeys.

The Nike Tech Fleece is available in many different colours. However, my favourite colourways are the more simplistic ones such as, the grey and black joggers. Like many items Nike make they can be paired with many different outfits and shoes. I personally wear my tech fleece joggers with white or black Air Force 1's.

Another key aspect of the Tech Fleece is that it can be worn in any season due to the materials it's made from. The innovative fabric is made from a blend of cotton and synthetic materials. This means that the tracksuit is warm yet lightweight. Tech fleece also includes many simple designs that other competition does not. Including zip pockets on the joggers and tracksuit top mean that you can put valuable items away safely. The functionality of Tech Fleece in my opinion is what has made it so popular in sportswear and streetwear.

Although, Tech fleece does not come cheap and right now the hoodie is £110 and the joggers £90. I purchased my Tech Fleece a few years ago when it was cheaper but other consumers are not put off by these prices, with the Tech Fleece still one of Nike's most popular products. As mentioned in previous blogs Nike are incredibly good at collaborating with people to drive demand for their products. Recently Nike collaborated with one of the UK's biggest artists, Central Cee on Tech Fleece. This helps Nike to maintain the visibility of Tech Fleece to consumers like myself.

Nike & Streetwear- Corteiz

One of the reasons Nike has been so dominant is because of their mix of sportswear and streetwear. Many other 'sportswear' companies don't do this. However, it is not only the fact Nike makes Streetwear clothing, shoes and accessories but also the collaborations Nike pursue, gaining the interest of a wider range of consumers like myself. A recent collaboration Nike made in streetwear was Corteiz in March 2023.  Corteiz is a London based streetwear label founded in 2017 by Clint419. Corteiz are known for exclusivity- through private social media accounts and the need for passwords to be able to buy their products.  Having personally bought items from Corteiz and seeing the 1.4 million Instagram followers they have gained whilst having a private account. It is very clear to see why Nike wanted to collaborate with Corteiz and are releasing a second launch this year with the streetwear brand. In a YouTube video Clint419 explains the collaboration. There is clearly a huge contra...

Nike Sportswear & streetwear- Air Jordan's

This blog post will look at the most successful Nike sportswear product in history. The Nike Air Jordan line and specifically the Air Jordan 1. Although, it is vital to know that Jordan's are also a staple of streetwear fashion.  Everybody knows who Michael Jordan is. One of the greatest basketball players of all time. This is exactly the reason why Nike launched the Air Jordan line in 1985 through the release of the Air Jordan 1. This shoe forever changed the way that people viewed athletic footwear. In my previous 2 blogs I have mentioned Nike’s genius collaborations and this partnership transformed Nike’s brand trajectory forever.  Having personally owned a pair of Air Jordan 1’s the shoe is extremely comfortable and offers great ankle support. The colourways are also very interchangeable and means that like the Air Force 1, can be worn in sports and for fashion with many different outfits. I have also noticed that many people wear these shoes to the gym because of the sho...

Nike & Streetwear- Air Force 1

The Nike Air Force 1 (AF1) has managed to maintain popularity globally for decades. Why is this? The Air Force 1 was originally released as a basketball shoe because of the advanced technology. So how did this shoe transition from sportswear to a fashionable streetwear sneaker.  First released in 1982, the Air Force 1 shoe was a basketball shoe because of the famous Nike Air Technology in the sole. The Air Force 1 was the first Nike shoe to feature this technology and was clearly groundbreaking.  However, quickly the shoe transitioned off the court and into urban fashion. Owning six pairs of the shoe myself I can say that this is down to the comfort, durability and iconic silhouette. The clean and simple silhouette is one of the most iconic features of the Nike shoe, making it versatile and easy to pair with any outfit.  The Nike Air Force 1 also carries and holds substantial cultural relevance. Since the 80’s and 90’s rappers such as Nelly played an important role in pro...
